Stood between the two front seats while my Mum braked too quickly, i was thrown face first onto the handbrake. Several stitches under my nose and the scar still to this day.
The main reason i remember this story was not for the accident itself, but with big black stitches another child in the supermarket remarked to his mother 'that girl has a spider coming out her nose!' I was so upset.
I use this story regularly when explaining why we wear seat belts today.
Little Bee is going to be Velma for Halloween. I've been working on the outfit for months. I'll probably post pics. You did look just like her - how cool! The old albums with the tissue paper between pages are hard to find too.
The last time I updated their photos was during OH's tour 3 years ago...and I had half said to myself I'd do the same again. I haven't. I think the huge number of pictures on the computer is putting me off. Thinking about sorting them and printing them...But I will eventually get round to it, because I'd rather look through an album than scroll down a screen. Hope they feel the same!Jumble Treehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18178572046978666630noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5389908895665078267.post-59859977371450068412012-10-18T16:18:18.071+01:002012-10-18T16:18:18.071+01:00I LOVE this! I am actually old enough to remember seatbelts not being worn and it being such a odd thing to have to suddenly start wearing them! I remember my uncle had a car accident with my brother in his car and literally the very next day my dad went out to buy seatbelts to put in the back of the car. To us it was such a luxury! Crazy really! Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5389908895665078267.post-28993891864439666662012-10-18T13:49:30.964+01:002012-10-18T13:49:30.964+01:00Love it. I'm the same with our photo albums, and I only have 2 kids. I had a blitz a few years ago and have got up to Pink being about 6 months old. So only another 6 years to go. it's harder I think, because so many of our pics (and i have taken so many) are on the computer and not sitting around accusingly in piles of photo 'envelopes' ... To make an album requires sorting through them all and getting them printed, although you can just email them/upload them to companies who will make up a hard copy album for you, but I don't think it would be the same without the photos falling out of those annoying little plastic corners. Mind you, I bet you can't even buy those plastic corners any more...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11838426651793558151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5389908895665078267.post-22967778218332832442012-10-18T11:26:35.856+01:002012-10-18T11:26:35.856+01:00We had a Morris Minor too, before the camper! I remember going all the way from Northern Ireland to France one time. I sat at the table in the back of the van, colouring or playing with my sisters, and the youngest was in a carrycot, wedged in between the seats. I don't remember anyone questioning it. Far too easy to now. But many things that were commonplace in the 70's seem bizarre now, especially to people who weren't around then. Life seemed less managed and less regulated. A good or bad thing? A bit of both I think - but that's a whole other debate! Thank you for you comment. I was safety concious as they got older, I strapped my son into his pushchair that we loaded into the back of the works van.....and it just stood on the floor.
People did not travel as far, as fast or as often way back then, and few went to school by car. Our car did less than 10 miles a week, a supermarket shop was about it once a week, so less traffic on the road.
