The Gallery - Morning

It doesn't seem to matter how tired he is or how tightly I tuck him in - by morning my 7 year old often ends up hanging out of bed like this.
He's my restless sleeper and my night owl. And he has a habit of quietly rearranging his room after lights out - so I'm never quite sure what I'm going to find when I check on him. My little darling is going through a stage of setting traps, after watching Home Alone (again). This usually involves his paperweight collection, books piled up by the door and loads of string wrapped around the handle....

I wouldn't have a chance of taking a photo of the other two sleeping in the morning unless I set my alarm. They are my larks. Always up bright and early, no matter what time they go to bed. These two take after their dad, who is cheerful and coherent from the minute he wakes up.
I am not.
I am not cheerful
and I do NOT want to have a conversation about whether we should put lawn feed on the grass, as soon as I open my eyes.
But he's not here at the moment and I'm on autopilot with the kids in the morning until I get them on the school bus.
By the time I'm ready for a chat, everyone's gone....

This week's Gallery theme is Morning.

  1. Awww, my step Mum is honestly the kindest most lovely person I've ever met BUT she begs people not to speak to her in the morning before 9am lol. She just doesn't do mornings :-)
My husband doesn't do mornings either, I'm ok once I can actually bare to physically drag my body out of bed (thats the worst part for me).

Just catching up on some blog reading. Paige has been extremely ill with pneumonia (was very scarey as one of her lungs function is depleated already due to a twist in her spine). She's coming through it now though :-) and I'm taking 30 mins just for me & some blog reading.

As ever have LOVED catching up on your posts.

    Take care,

    Jo xxx

    1. Lovely to hear from you Jo! I'm so glad that Paige is feeling better - must have been a horrible time for you all.

On the grumpy front, I'm sure I'd be better company in the morning if I didn't go to bed so late. I blame blogging! x

    1. Thank you Ginger :) I wish I was more pleasant in the mornings, but find being cheery so early exhausting! x

    1. I have found mine upside down in his bed and INSIDE his duvet cover. How did he undo the buttons in his sleep? It's all a bit of a mystery...!

    1. It's probably a good thing they're both larks. My larks wake up my night owl and so he's often as miserable as me at breakfast time!
I find I go to bed a lot later when I'm on my own. I need to be more sensible...for everyone's sake...

  12. Hi, I'd say I was a 10.30am kinda gal too, don't like mornings but evenings I just want to veg. Sadly my little one is definitely a lark! (and a night owl sometimes, sheesh!)
Love the subheading of your blog, made me smile!

  13. I'm more of a lark, while my DH is an owl. It does complicate things. We have one( maybe 2) baby larks and 2 owls, one owl and one lark are also fidgets.
That sounds like one of those logic puzzles doesn't it?

  15. Gorgeous photo!
Of my two kids one is a morning girl and one is definitely not. I have to wake her an extra 15 minutes earlier to give her time to wake up and get over the grumps!
