Day 24 - Coming home for Christmas...

I don't think I've ever been so organised - 11 days to go and everything's bought and wrapped.  There is something about being on your own that makes you focus - and I am definitely festively focussed this year...

It's the last week of school and the busiest - the kids are on their knees poor loves!  Last december you had to practically camp outside the school because there were so many performances and carol services - facing a possible parent mutiny, things have been reined in a little this time so it's not quite as frantic!

Being organised also gives me a breathing space to prepare for Christmas with the family in Ireland.  All T's family and mine (bar one sister)  live quite close to each other - you would think this was a good thing and in some ways it is, but it also gets political - "Who are you staying with when you're over? and for how long?"  - every question is loaded, you have to tread carefully.

And that's just an ordinary visit - Christmas is a time of heightened expectations, throw in an unpredictable, opinionated stepmother and a cross-dressing sort-of-stepfather and it's bound to be a cracker!!   It's a bit like tackling an obstacle course in a mine field - you know something's going to go off but you just don't know where and you don't know when.......
